New York City singer/songwriter/keyboardist Jessie Davis has a musical style that can only be described as a Jazz Gumbo. She dishes up a tantalizing combination of jazz, R&B, funk, blues, rock, pop and gospel. Reminiscent to artists such as Amy Winehouse, Esperanza Spalding, Adele, and D’Angelo, her latest CD “Him & I Gemini” has attracted the some of the worlds top musical talent such as Grammy Winning keyboardist Phil Davis, Tyler Perry trumpeter Melvin Jones, and Little John Roberts, celebrity drummer for Janet Jackson, En Vogue and George Duke among others. Him & I Gemini showcases Jessie’s unique style and musicianship and exhibits her many talents as a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, and arranger. Her music is new and refreshing and leaves you wanting more.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, the pursuit of music started for Jessie at a very young age as a classical piano prodigy. She won countless competitions and travelled throughout the Intermountain West performing in concert halls including Abravenal Hall and Libby Gardner Hall.
When Jessie started college her hunger for musical diversity took her to the Berklee College of Music where she discovered her passion for jazz. After living in Boston for a short period of time Jessie went on the road with International recording artist, Vinx and performed for audiences along the East Coast at venues including Blues Alley, The Birchmere, Center Stage Atlanta, and the Gibson in NYC. Her work with Vinx led her to Atlanta where she lived from 2007-2011. In 4 short years Jessie made her mark in the Atlanta music scene performing and working with some of the greatest musicians and producers in the Southeast. She even co-led a 16 Piece Big Band called the Drive By Big Band. In 2010, Jessie released her first solo EP, “Halfway Between Here and the Middle of Nowhere,” which has been played on online radio and stations throughout the Southeast and Intermountain West.
Her sophomore release,"Him & I Gemini" has received rave reviews and is currently playing on stations all across the US and Europe. Her music has even been placed on NCIS-LA. Jazz Times heralds "There is something for everyone on this recording. Ms. Davis brings a diverse and highly attractive style and freshness to her art form." As a new addition to the New York City music scene, Jessie has wasted no time getting her feet wet. Already hitting the stage at the Shrine, The Bitter End, Sugar Bar, Jules Bistro, Monas, the Old Hit Factory, and most recently opening up for the great comedian George Lopez at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, Jessie is on the fast track to success.
